The Call of the 52-Hertz Whale is a four-part performance series.
Two performers are isolated in glass cages, yet connected via voice/face/text chat. They coordinate and execute joint activities remotely yet synchronously. The sound of their conversation is turned into a signal modulating the cages' interior lighting, as well as run through an audio effect chain that conveys it into the audience space as a whale-like song. The performers' phone screens are projected onto the exterior monitors, offering the only unfiltered access to the otherwise private and undecipherable conversation.
