Chad and Virgin
Chad and Virgin is a video installation that humorously highlights the role of gender-based masculinity stereotypes.
A floating, rotating frosted glass pane shows the projection of "Chad" on one side, while "Virgin" is depicted on its flip side. Both figures reference the meme "Virgin vs. Chad," a crude Microsoft Paint drawing meant to illustrate two opposite poles on the spectrum of masculinity. In the video installation, the artist has transformed himself into both figures, while retaining the formal language of the meme, thus recognizably representing himself equally as "Virgin" and "Chad."
